Overview
bynoon is a Sydney AI automation agency run by Josh McCann. The bynoon CRM is the app it sets up for its clients: one place for the front office of a service business. Enquiries, bookings, quotes, invoices, payments and campaigns sit together, with an AI receptionist on the phone. Each business gets its own workspace and switches features on as it needs them.
IO Corp is bynoon's official delivery partner. I built the platform through IO Corp, working with Josh, and it runs on AWS in Sydney. The look is bynoon's own. My part is the engineering.
What's in it
Front desk
One inbox for texts, email, website chat and calls. An AI receptionist answers the phone, checks availability, holds a booking and texts a deposit link. Email replies get an AI draft, and the chat widget hands over to staff.
Bookings
Calendar and staff views, a public booking page with deposits that hold the slot, reminders, reschedule and cancel links, and Google and Outlook sync.
Sales
Pipelines with coloured stages. Quotes customers accept and sign online. Contracts with signature, initials and date fields.
Accounts
GST tax invoices, card payments through Stripe Connect, recurring payments, payouts and refunds.
Marketing
Email and SMS campaigns to segments, with consent checked first. Review requests, forms and lead-source tracking.
Back office
An automation builder, a shared knowledge base, reports and tasks.
Made for Australian businesses
- Each business has its own workspace, with owner, manager, staff and viewer roles.
- Setups for tradies, gyms, professional services, appointments, events and agencies, then a guided first run.
- GST-inclusive prices and tax invoices. Australian phone numbers and SMS sender names.
- Consent and opt-out handling built into texts and email.
- Branding per workspace, and the app installs on a phone.
- An admin console for the bynoon team, with Google sign-in. Every staff visit into a workspace is logged and shown to the business.
How it's built
The API is Django 5.2 on Django REST Framework and TurboDRF, my open-source library, so roles, tenant walls and field rules are declared in one place. The React 19 front end serves four surfaces: the business app, the staff admin, the public booking pages and an embeddable chat widget.
It runs on AWS Lambda in Sydney with Aurora PostgreSQL Serverless, CloudFront and S3, all described in CloudFormation. GitHub Actions tests and deploys every push to main.
The AI front desk uses Claude through Amazon Bedrock's Australian inference. Voice comes from ElevenLabs over a streaming connection, so a caller hears the reply as it's generated. Twilio carries calls and texts from its Australian region, and Stripe Connect handles payments.
